I've spent most of my life feeling like an outsider.
For years, I searched for a place where I didn't have to explain who I was, tone down my personality, or fit into someone else's expectations. I wanted a place where people could simply exist as themselves without fear of judgment. When I couldn't find that space, I decided to create it.
That decision became the foundation of Angel's House of Design Co.
People often think I own a clothing boutique. While that's true, it's only part of the story. My real passion has never been selling clothing—it's helping people discover who they are. Every fitting, every custom design, and every styling appointment is an opportunity to help someone look in the mirror and finally see themselves.
I've watched it happen hundreds of times.
A customer puts on a garment that truly reflects who they are, and suddenly their posture changes. They stand taller. They smile differently. Their confidence comes alive. In that moment, they're no longer wearing someone else's expectations—they're wearing themselves.
That's the power of authenticity.
Research continues to show that living authentically isn't just emotionally fulfilling—it's beneficial for our overall well-being. A large meta-analysis examining more than 36,000 participants found that people who live more authentically report significantly higher levels of well-being and engagement in life.
To me, those findings make perfect sense.
When we're constantly hiding pieces of ourselves, trying to fit in, or pretending to be someone we're not, it takes energy. Imagine how much lighter life feels when you no longer have to perform for everyone else.
Fashion became my first way of helping people experience that freedom.
Community became the next.
That is why I partnered with my friend Luke Vinland, guitarist for Third Realm, to create Obscura Productions LLC.
Luke and I share the same vision: creating safe, welcoming spaces where people in the gothic and alternative community can connect, celebrate creativity, and unapologetically be themselves. We believe that everyone deserves to walk into a room knowing they'll be accepted—not because they fit a certain mold, but because they're authentic.
Through Obscura Productions, we've begun building exactly that.
Our signature events, The Obscura Goth Prom and The Blood Bank, are more than themed parties. They're celebrations of individuality, creativity, music, fashion, and belonging. Alongside those larger productions, we're working to bring more intimate community events to the Lehigh Valley, including gothic movie nights, karaoke nights, themed parties, and other gatherings that give people regular opportunities to connect with others who understand them.
These events aren't just about entertainment.
They're about belonging.
They're about creating the kind of environment I wish had existed when I was younger.
A place where no one is judged for what they wear.
A place where expressing yourself isn't strange—it's celebrated.
A place where every body, every identity, every style, and every story has a seat at the table.
I believe confidence begins when people stop asking, "Will they accept me?" and start asking, "Does this feel like me?"
That's the philosophy behind every dress I design, every alteration I complete, every event I help produce, and every person who walks through our doors.
Whether someone visits Angel's House of Design Co. searching for the perfect outfit or attends an Obscura Productions event looking for connection, my hope is the same.
I hope they leave feeling seen.
I hope they leave feeling accepted.
Most importantly, I hope they leave feeling just a little more comfortable being exactly who they are.
Because the world doesn't need more people trying to fit in.
It needs more people who have the courage to be authentically themselves.
